Remembering Andrew Peters

Andrew Peters was always one of my favorite Sabres, regardless of how he played on the ice.  He was what so many NHLers are not, personable and entertaining.  On Tuesday he announced that he would retire from hockey instead of reporting to the AHL's Manitoba Moose realizing that there is no place in today's NHL for a big body with limited hockey skills.

His agent, Steve Bartlett of Pittsford-based Sports Consulting Group, said the Vancouver Canucks had asked Peters to report to the Manitoba Moose. But, having played only two games with the Amerks in October, and realizing his role would be very limited, he has decided to move on with life after hockey.
Peters, 30, played nine pro seasons, including six in the NHL.
